Privacy
Private by design.
LiveLayer is a local-first desktop application. It was built to respect your privacy — here’s exactly what that means, in plain language.
What we don’t collect
LiveLayer does not collect personal data. There is no account system, no telemetry, no analytics, and no advertising. The app works fully offline and never sends your wallpapers, files, or usage information anywhere.
There is no "phone home" behavior. Your wallpapers and settings stay on your device.
What we do touch
To set and display wallpapers, LiveLayer reads the image and video files you explicitly choose to use as wallpapers. It stores only what’s needed to remember your setup: the file paths of your wallpapers, your saved wallpaper list, your date widget settings, and your other preferences. All of this is processed and stored entirely on your device.
No third-party services
LiveLayer connects to no third-party services and relies on no external APIs. The app works fully offline and never contacts a server, even when checking for wallpapers or updates.
Open source
LiveLayer is open source under the AGPL-3.0 license, and its source code is public on GitHub. Anyone can inspect it to verify these claims. You can read the code, build it yourself, or contribute.

When you download LiveLayer through the Microsoft Store, Microsoft’s own privacy policy applies to the download and update process. LiveLayer itself does not collect data.
